The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism promotes the Fitur Know-How&Export space to support the export of Spanish tourism knowledge

The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, through the State Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies, S.A (SEGITTUR), and in collaboration with FITUR and ICEX Spain, Exports and Investment, has launched the Fitur Know-How&Export space, an initiative to support the export of Spanish tourism knowledge.

Spain is a world leader in tourism, it occupies a privileged position as an international tourist destination and has developed valuable know-how that, without a doubt, can be exported to other developing tourist destinations and many mature destinations.

For this reason, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism has decided to create Fitur Know-How&Export, a space in which Spanish companies linked to tourism can show their potential, knowledge, services and tourism products to buyers from other countries. potential markets.

This initiative responds to the objectives included in the National and Comprehensive Tourism Plan (PNIT) 2012-2015 to support the transfer and export of tourism know-how. To this end, a process has been initiated to promote the internationalization of Spanish tourism companies, accompanying them in opening new markets and identifying projects.

The event will be held within the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that will take place between January 30 and February 3 and will be inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Borrego; the Director General of the UNWTO, Zoltan Somogyi; the president of SEGITTUR, Antonio López de Ávila; the CEO of ICEX, Coriseo Gonzalez-Izquierdo, and the director of FITUR, Ana Larrañaga.

This first edition of Fitur Know-How&Export has the participation of 26 Spanish companies that cover topics such as hotel management, strategic consulting, mobile application development, cultural management platforms, online reservation systems or cloud solutions. 65% of them have a technological base.

Fitur Know-How&Export has two activity programs: “Fitur Know-How&Export: Opportunities & Financing” and “Fitur Know-How&Export: Solutions”.

Fitur Know-How&Export: Opportunities & financing

A complete program supported by the World Tourism Organization has been developed, which will include the presence of fifteen countries, which will publicize the tourism investment opportunities in their areas, as well as possible tenders linked to development. tourism that they plan to carry out in 2013 and subsequent years.

The program, which will take place from January 30 to February 1, is structured into talks grouped by geographical areas. Among the participating countries are: Colombia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Macao, Armenia, Libya, Ecuador, Indonesia or Mozambique.

Likewise, there will be two tables dedicated to how to identify sources of financing to innovate and export in the tourism sector. To do this, we will have ICEX representatives who are experts in multilateral organizations and prominent members of the European Commission.

Fitur Know-How&Export: Solutions

Within Fitur Know-How&Export, attendees will have the opportunity to learn in 15-minute sessions about the most innovative technological solutions with export potential and ranging from technological services for the hotel sector, centralized destination management, cloud solutions , smart territories or applications for tourism.
