Alicante, Gran Canaria, Seville and Benidorm concentrate 21% of the Tourism Quality Commitment distinctions obtained in June 2018 by companies and services belonging to the Comprehensive System of Spanish Tourism Quality in Destinations (SICTED), developed by the Secretary of State for Tourism.

1,154 companies and services belonging to 64 tourist destinations have been presented to the SICTED Distinction Committee in June 2018, of which 99% of the entities have managed to obtain or maintain the distinction.

On June 15, the first of the two Distinction Committees held annually at SICTED took place. The purpose of the committee is to review compliance, by the establishments presented, with each and every one of the requirements demanded by the quality system. Exceeding these commitments entails the establishment's Tourism Quality Distinction. On this occasion, a total of 1,154 companies and services from all over Spain have participated, belonging to 64 SICTED destinations, the highest number of destinations in a June distinction committee, since its inception in 2009 to date.

The effort and commitment of SICTED destinations and companies has been evident as 99% of the total of those presented have achieved or maintained the distinction.

On this occasion, the SICTED destinations that have presented and distinguished the most companies in the committee have been: Alicante (77), Gran Canaria (58), Seville (56) and Benidorm (55), which together represents 21 % of the total.

In addition, the destinations of Puente Genil and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, which participated for the first time in a distinction committee, have achieved the distinctive “Commitment to Tourism Quality” for all the companies and services presented, 8 and 20 respectively.

In the SICTED project, as of June 15, 2018, 188 destinations, 8,161 companies and services (belonging to a total of 33 trades) participate, and of them, 5,083 companies and services hold the distinction of Tourism Quality Commitment, a 63% of the total.
