Summary

The Strategy of Sustainability in Tourism Destinations is done on Programmes of plans of Sustainability in Tourism destinations in the participation of the three levels of tourism administrations (AGE, CC.AA., autonomous cities and local authorities).

The strategy will focus on two differentiated programmes including the Special Programme sustainability in Tourism Destinations 2021-2023, main activity of the Plan for the modernization and competitiveness of the tourism Sector. Although shares with the regular programme objectives, categories of destination, and much of the proceedings, a distinction is made of it by the exceptional nature of its funding, which comes as a whole of european funds (MRR) and that should entail greater ambition transforming, The Special Programme plans of Sustainability in Tourism Destinations has its realization operational inter alia, a national Plan for the Sustainability Of national tourism that will contribute to the priority national tourism agreed for each year in dialogue with the autonomous communities and local entities.

In 2021 and by the uniqueness of the event, the national Plan for the Sustainability of national tourism had the Xacobeo 21-22 as a priority.

Dated 28 july 2021 agreed within the sectoral conference on Tourism the launch of the extraordinary Call for the year 2021, which resulted in the submission of proposals to local and autonomous communities, and then proceed to the configuration of the Territorial Plans to set up in each territory and destination for a response to the challenges of sostenibilidad turística, in the exercise of its powers in the area of tourism and management in the areas of transition, the green digital transition, and the competitiveness of destinations.

It is essential to extend the deadlines for implementation of aid, towards the achievement of the object of the royal decree 1073/2021, of 7 december, amending what expected with regard to its time frame given the need to bring the deadlines of performance in the rest of tourism Sustainability 3 who will be completed at the second quarter of 2026, obtaining, therefore harmonise all investments managed within the framework of the recovery Plan, transformation and Resilience with respect to the implementation of aforementioned plans, in turn, adopted in the plenary of Sectoral Conference of tourism held on 23 january 2023.

The initial deadline given for the implementation of the grants referred to in article 6 of the royal decree 1073/2021, of 7 december, was on 31 october 2025.

Structure of the Royal Decree

The draft royal decree consists of a single article and two final provisions.
