The Tourism Sector Conference of March 30, 2021 has approved the call for the second ordinary edition of the Program of Plans for Tourism Sustainability in Destinations, the main instrument of intervention of the Spanish Tourism Administration. The Secretary of State for Tourism allocates 23 million euros to this edition that, once again, will be co-financed by the Autonomous Communities and local entities whose projects are selected.
The objective of the program is to move towards the transformation of tourist destinations towards a model based on environmental, socioeconomic and territorial sustainability. This ordinary edition of Plans for 2021 addresses three categories of destinations: sun and beach; urban with more than 20,000 inhabitants and rural and / or in protected natural spaces (municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants or regions with less than 70,000 inhabitants).
The beneficiary entity and responsible for the execution of the plan in all its phases must be a local entity from among those provided for in article 3 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime:
- The town
- The province
- The island in the Balearic and Canary archipelagos
- The counties or other entities that group several municipalities, instituted by the Autonomous Communities in accordance with this law and the corresponding Statutes of Autonomy
- Metropolitan areas
- The associations of municipalities
The proposal will be submitted electronically to the Autonomous Community in which the requesting destination is located in the manner established by it.
Deadline for submitting proposals: From April 5 to May 14, both inclusive.
The Autonomous Communities will send all the requests received to the Secretary of State for Tourism, which the two administrations will analyze and assess.
Plan proposals must include:
- Basic data of the applicant
- Financial report on cost and financing
- Technical report of the plan
They will have to be sent by completing Annex II of the call
