The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism presents the Comprehensive Rural Tourism Plan 2014

The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, has presented in El Burgo de Osma (Soria), the Comprehensive Rural Tourism Plan 2014. The objective is to promote a tourism product that, with more than 15,000 establishments, almost 140,000 beds, 2.5 million travelers accommodated and 6.9 million overnight stays in 2013, contributes to geographical diversification, highlights the natural and cultural heritage in rural areas and generates more than 21,000 jobs direct in this type of accommodation.

The Comprehensive Rural Tourism Plan 2014 reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism to improving the quality and diversification of the Spanish tourism offer, and in particular to promoting rural and inland tourism.

The priority objectives of this tourism strategy developed by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism are to structure this product to facilitate its commercialization, improve the positioning of Spain and increase international demand. To achieve them, actions have been designed with a double aspect: on supply and on demand.

As for the offer, the promotion of the Ecotourism product in the National Parks Network stands out as well as the training program for companies on Sustainable Ecotourism. And to activate demand, an online advertising campaign will be carried out, 187 promotion and marketing support actions in 17 markets and the strengthening of the specific channel for nature tourism in www.spain.info .
